Annie Wins AGD Nationals!

posted Sep 4, 2017, 7:26 PM by Alder Brittanys

Annie made her last run at nationals a great one and brought home the blue in the 2016 Amateur Gun Dog Championship!  She's placed in this event three times previously including two runner ups and a third.  The win was especially impressive when you consider she's ten years old and had a litter of puppies five months earlier.  Annie's AKC name is now NAGDC GAFC FC AFC High Hopes Little Ann.  That's a lot of titles for a little dog!

With five week old pups on the ground, Annie takes second at Pennsylvania Brittany Club

FC AFC High Hopes Little Ann "Annie" put down one of her more memorable runs today and was rewarded with second place in the Open Gun Dog stake at the Pennsylvania Brittany Club.  This qualifies her for amateur and open gun dog nationals in the fall.
We didn't have anything to run at the trial this weekend so we stuck Annie in the gun dog stakes to give us something to do.  Keep in mind, she's nine years old, weaned a litter of pups six days ago and hasn't been off the couch since hunting season ended in December.  She put down an impressive performance.  You could see her start to hurt and run out of steam, then dig deep, find another gear and take off. We got behind on a piece of birdwork but she finished by taking the front from way back and swinging the far edges at the end of the course all on her own. This performance exemplified the heart and depth that make her such a special dog.  Her pups have some (little) big shoes to fill.

Puppies are here!

Annie delivered five health puppies (2 boys, 3 girls) today.  Annie and the pups are doing great.  All of the pups are spoken for, but you can see pictures by clicking here.

Annie Places Second at Nationals - Again!

For the third time in her career, FC AFC High Hopes Little Ann ("Annie") earned a placement at the American Brittany Club Amateur Gun Dog National Championship.  Annie, handled by Dan and scouted by Allison, has now earned one third place and two second place finishes.  Her placement this year is all the more impressive when you consider that Annie is 8 years old and has raised two litters of puppies.
Like many of us, Annie comes from a competitive family.  Last time around it was her mom who beat her out of first place.  This time it was her half-sister, NAGDC DC AFC High Points Summer Time.  Their brother, 2X NGDC DC AFC High Hopes Dark Nite, finished fourth.

Penny Gets Started

Our youngest pup, Penny (Alder Grand Hopes Penny Ante), ran in her first field trial this past weekend.  Penny got started off right, winning the Open Puppy and placing second in the Amateur Walking Puppy stake at the Buckeye Brittany Club.  She's a lot of fun in the field and we look forward to running her more this fall.

New Dual Champion!

posted May 25, 2015, 6:42 PM by Alder Brittanys

In the history of the Brittany, there have been 627 Brittanys who have attained the title of Dual Champion.  As a breed, we have more dual champions than all other pointing breeds combined and we're exceptionally proud of this record.  With that in mind, Allison and I could not be happier to announce our second Dual Champion (pending AKC verification) DC High Hopes Big Gamble.  Allison finished Riley with his second major at the New Castle, Pennsylvania, dog show this past weekend.   Although many people provided her with tips, help and support, Allison handled Riley to each and every point herself.
To make the day even sweeter, Riley's littermate, Summer, owned by Ron and Kathy Gulembo, finished her Dual Champion title on the same day.  They're the second and third dogs from this litter to do so.  What an accomplishment for breeders Al and Cindy Cropek!  Thanks also to professional trainer Jimmy Johnson who finished Riley's FC title for us while we were home with our newborn daughter.
While we're proud of Riley's accomplishments, he's still a young dog and we think he has a lot of winning left to do in the field.

Riley Brings Home the Blue

Our own Riley (FC High Hopes Big Gamble) brought home a first place ribbon on Saturday by winning a 13-dog all age stake hosted by the Pennsylvania Brittany Club.  When Riley is honest, he's something special.

Tucker wins big

Tucker
We're very proud of Alder All Tundra Devil Tuktu "Tucker," owned and handled by first-time Brittany owner Bob Puerner, for winning the Amateur Gun Dog stake at the Michigan Brittany Club on Saturday.  Tucker is out of our Charlie and Dee Hempfield's Allie.  Dee co-bred the litter with us and did an outstanding job starting the pups.
Bob has worked very hard with Tucker, who won the dual dog award at the 2013 Central Futurity.  He's an exciting dog to watch and we look forward to seeing him run at his first Gun Dog Nationals this fall.

Like Mother, Like Daughter

It was a great weekend for Alder Brittanys, with two big wins that took place on opposite ends of the country.  First, Alder Sophie Brook (pictured left), handled by her owner Dan Campbell, won a 20 dog open gun dog stake put on by the Wasatch Front Brittany Club in Elberta, Utah.  Dan sent us the good news while we were at the Buckeye Brittany Club trial in Dresden, Ohio.  Not to be outdone by her daughter (even from 1,830 miles away), our FC AFC High Hopes Little Ann put down a beautiful run, winning a 26 dog open gun dog stake.  Both Sophie and Annie are now qualified to run in both the Open and Amateur Gun Dog Nationals in October.  Sophie is by Charlie and out of Annie.
