About Alder Brittanys

  • Owners and breeders of quality Brittanys located in Northern Ohio.
  • We compete with our dogs in AKC field trials and conformation shows.
  • We are Active members of the Buckeye, Pennsylvania and American Brittany Clubs.
      • Dan has served multiple terms as President of the Buckeye Brittany Club, and is a former Regional Director of the American Brittany Club.  He is also a licensed AKC field trial judge.
      • All of our dogs are hunted frequently, including annual trips to South Dakota and Michigan.  Pursuing wild pheasants, sharptails, ruffed grouse and woodcock through rough terrain separates the pups from the bird dogs and is the number one way we evaluate our breeding stock.  Performance in competition, health and temperament tells us the rest of the story.
About Us
We're Dan and Allison, a lawyer and a veterinarian, living with our two children and other animals on a small farm outside of Cleveland.  When we're not working, we're training or competing with our dogs.
Our Farm
Allison and Dan have a small farm with enough room to train dogs and keep a few other animals.  Along with our dogs, we keep two cats, two horses, two cows, two pigs, chickens, turkeys, quail and pigeons.  See pictures of our farm here.

  • Annie Places Second at Nationals - Again!      For the third time in her career, FC AFC High Hopes Little Ann ("Annie") earned a placement at the American Brittany Club Amateur Gun Dog National Championship.  Annie, handled by Dan and scouted by Allison, has now earned one third place and two second place finishes.  Her placement this year is all the more impressive when you consider that Annie is 8 years old and has raised two litters of puppies.       Like many of us, Annie comes from a competitive family.  Last time around it was her mom who beat her out of first place.  This time it was her half-sister, NAGDC DC AFC High Points Summer Time.  Their brother, 2X NGDC DC AFC High Hopes Dark Nite, finished ...

  • Penny Gets Started Our youngest pup, Penny (Alder Grand Hopes Penny Ante), ran in her first field trial this past weekend.  Penny got started off right, winning the Open Puppy and placing second in the Amateur Walking Puppy stake at the Buckeye Brittany Club.  She's a lot of fun in the field and we look forward to running her more this fall.

  • New Dual Champion! In the history of the Brittany, there have been 627 Brittanys who have attained the title of Dual Champion.  As a breed, we have more dual champions than all other pointing breeds combined and we're exceptionally proud of this record.  With that in mind, Allison and I could not be happier to announce our second Dual Champion (pending AKC verification) DC High Hopes Big Gamble.  Allison finished Riley with his second major at the New Castle, Pennsylvania, dog show this past weekend.   Although many people provided her with tips, help and support, Allison handled Riley to each and every point herself. To make the day even sweeter, Riley's littermate, Summer, owned by Ron and Kathy Gulembo, finished her ...
