About Alder Brittanys

  • Owners and breeders of quality Brittanys located in Northern Ohio.
  • We compete with our dogs in AKC field trials and conformation shows.
  • We are Active members of the Buckeye, Ohio, Pennsylvania and American Brittany Clubs.
      • Dan is the President of the Buckeye Brittany Club, Second Vice President of the Ohio Brittany Club and a Regional Director of the American Brittany Club.  He is also a licensed AKC field trial judge.
      • All of our dogs are hunted frequently, including at least one trip a year to South Dakota.  A long week pursuing spooky birds over rough terrain separates the pups from the bird dogs and is the number one way we evaluate our breeding stock.  Performance in competition, health and temperament tells us the rest of the story.

About Us
We're Dan and Allison, a lawyer and a veterinarian, living with our son and other animals on a small farm outside of Cleveland.  When we're not working, we're training or competing with our dogs.

Our Farm
Allison and Dan have a small farm with enough room to train dogs and keep a few other animals.  Along with our dogs, we keep two cats, two horses, two goats, three cows, chickens, turkeys, quail and pigeons.  See pictures of our farm here.

Alder Brittanys Recent News

  • A Great Start to 2013 We have much to be thankful for after the Buckeye Brittany spring field trial.  Fern's littermate, Tucker, owned and handled by Bob Puerner, took first place in the Amateur Walking Puppy stake.  This is Bob's first Brittany and he's got a good one on his hands.  Dan handled Tucker's half sister, Lucy, to second place in that stake.  Annie put down a beautiful performance in the Open Limited Gun Dog stake and was awarded third place.  We were especially proud, though, of our Riley.  After a phenomenal juvenile career, Riley is starting to figure out what it means to run in adult dog stakes.  He got around clean in the Amateur Gun Dog stake and was ...

  • Lucy Places at Eastern Futurity It was 7 degrees when we left Northern Ohio but, less than 24 hours later, we were basking in the sun and warm temperatures of Waynesboro, Georgia, "The Bird Dog Capitol of the World."   We had a great trip, met some wonderful people and got to run our dogs on hallowed bird dog grounds.  If you haven't been there, the Di-Lane plantation is a sight to see.  We're very proud to announce that our Lucy, Alder GT Lucifer, took third place in the Gun Dog stake in the 2013 the Eastern Futurity.  Lucy's half-brother, Tucker, owned by Bob Puerner, took third in the intermediate males class at the show.  We're already looking forward to ...

  • Done with Derby Littermates Lucy and Kirby continued their derby domination with placements at the Michigan Brittany Club field trial this past weekend.  Kirby took first in both Open Derby and Amateur Walking Derby, where Lucy took second.   Both are now done with their derby points and are looking forward to the fall hunting season before they head to the Eastern and Central Futurities in the spring.

What's special about Alder Brittanys?

-Dedicated to competing with and breeding the finest Brittanys for field, show and home

-Competition shows us which dogs are worthy of being bred

-We breed for health, temperament, hunting ability and looks

-All of our dogs are family dogs and live in the house

- We prefer our dogs run big but they will all handle to a hunter on foot

-Field trials prove a lot about our dogs but we know that a bird dog is only as good as his ability to put wild birds on the table
